Presentation tip: telling stories

One of the ways to engage your audience is to tell stories.

Your personal stories are what's going to move people.  The tough part about telling a personal story is to tell a story that has some sort of conflict in it or some sort of hardship that one had to overcome.  You have to be willing to be transparent and forthcoming about some of the hardships you have overcome.   People want a hero.  They want to be lead by a hero.  They want someone that can proof to them that they have overcome hardships in the past and that you are qualified to lead them to this one.  So be vulnerable and open and tell those stories.  It will engage your audience and it will move them to the next place you need to take your audience.
